Angélica Cruz – Violin

Hi! My name is Angelica, I’m 29 years old and I’m a Cuban violist living in Vienna since two years ago. I finished my Bachelor’s degree at the University of the Arts in Havana, then I came to Austria to continue my improvement. I have more than five years of experience in teaching violin, viola, music theory and complementary piano, so no matter what level you are, I can teach you from the ground up. I specialized in classical music but I can also help you to play and learn your favorite songs.

I believe that music should be a source of joy and enjoyment before anything else. I don’t have a definite method, as I think I have to adapt to the needs and aptitudes of each student. I can give individual and group lessons (no more than 4 people), so I can also work with small chamber formats. I find it very important to connect mind and body with the instrument, so I like to emphasize from the beginning on relaxation and proper postures to avoid pain or contractions later on. I like to develop a series of relaxation and stretching exercises before each class.

My native language is Spanish, but I also speak English and am learning German. I hope to see you soon!

Guitar lessons on many levels

Concert guitarist with diploma as a concertist from University of Music Vienna, and studies for Classical Guitar Pedagogy, with minors in Popular Music as well as Music Theory. Concerts in Austria, Belgium, Japan and Switzerland.

I teach guitar and music theory since 2009, as well as electric guitar since 2015. I direct my lessons around the interests and abilities of each student, and after many years of teaching I could build a repertory of pieces from various styles (Classical, Pop, Rock, Film and World music, among others), that I also arranged for students of all levels. Additionally to the instrumental lessons, I organize Music Theory lessons as well as Recording Sessions for my students, so they can experience the music world and get comfortable with it.

Charm up and stay chilled

The basis of all good teaching must be an empathetic teacher. And then of course qualification.

I was so lucky to meet a couple of very good teachers at Mozarteum Salzburg, Konservatorium Wien, and internationally in Masterclasses and I am happy to be now able to pass on my knowledge and skills to my students.

As a pedagogue I am working as a cello professor at Prayner Konservatorium Wien and at Wiener Musikakademie. I offer private lessons and have also worked with children and young people as guest teacher of Barenboim Said Foundation and as cello and chamber music teacher in the Danish music school system “MGK”.

As a cellist I have been working with some of the best orchestras in Austria, amongst them Camerata Salzburg, Tonkünstler Niederösterreich and others, and also internationally with Irish Chamber Orchestra, Tromsö Kammerorkester or Danish Chamber Players. I am a passionate Chamber musician (e.g. on original instruments with Ensemble Wiener Cammerstyl) and as a Duo with different pianists. As a result of a Cross Over and Jazz Project for Cello Solo there has been a CD released called “Caleidocello”.

I suppose I will be a patient and friendly teacher for you, who is willing and able to be precise about the playing and the music but who also knows how important a good and trusting personal relationship with a teacher is.

All ages are welcome. Beginners as well. I offer theory lessons as well at lower rates.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Peter
